Telegram new tricks 2021
Chosing the best username
Telegram's username function allows you to look up someone by their username. You can choose your own public username, which will enable other Telegram users to find and contact you without having to reveal your phone number.
To do so, open Telegram on your Android or iPhone (whichever you're using) and go to Settings from the hamburger icon. From there, choose a username from the second top option and confirm it by tapping the right symbol. You've now successfully developed your own Telegram username.
You will find the chat connection at the bottom of the username section, which you can share with your friends and family so they can contact you directly.
Grouping chats
If you're using Telegram, you could be following a lot of channels and getting a lot of different chats. Telegram's community folder or mark feature allows you to organise your individual chats and channels. To do so, go to Telegram settings from the hamburger icon, select Files, tap Build New Folder, and select Touch, Groups, Channels, or individual chats, then tap the right symbol. You can rename the folder here, then save it in the top right corner to finish. From the same section, you can also remove or reorganise these files.
Previewing messages
Text previews are just as useful as other features, but you may not want to expose your message updates to other users while they hold your phone. Telegram allows you to mask chat messages and turn off message preview. To turn off In-App Preview from In-app alerts, go to Settings > Notifications and Sounds > Turn off In-App Preview.
Accessing secret chat messages
The Secret chat function on Telegram facilitates end-to-end encryption and allows you to communicate with your friends and family in a more secure manner. It leaves no traces on the Telegram server when you secret chat, supports self-destructing messages, and does not allow message forwarding. To begin a secret chat, open the Telegram app, tap the hamburger icon, and select New Secret Chat. Next, select a contact and begin chatting.
New Self destruction messages
In your Telegram hidden chats, you can set a Self-Destruct timer that will automatically erase your chat conversations and photos when the timer expires. Regrettably, the Self-Destruct function is only available in hidden chats. This function can be activated in your hidden chat by going to three vertical dots > Self-destruct timer > Choose a time interval between one second and one week.
Getting a new Theme
Unlike other messaging applications, Telegram allows you to select from a variety of themes and change the colour of your messages. You can also adjust the size of your message text, set a custom chat backdrop, display your chats in list mode, add animations, stickers, and masks, and many other things in your chats. To do so, go to Telegram settings, then Chat settings, and follow the steps from there.
Ever thought using telegram as image editor? Here's How
This is one of the most brilliant telegram tricks ever devised. Telegram users do not need to use a third-party programme to edit photos. You can then use an inbuilt image and video editor to edit the image or video before submitting it to your friends or family. It has image cropping, painting, the latest stickers and gifs, texts, video enhancement, HD+ effect, and other features.
Locking your personal chats
Telegram messenger has a number of built-in security features, one of which allows you to lock your conversations with a passcode or your fingerprint. Go to the Privacy and Security section of Telegram's settings. Choose a Passcode Lock and allow the Unlock with Fingerprint choice here. To access conversations inside the app, it will now ask for a passcode or fingerprint verification.
Turing on Two Step Verification
It's a feature that you'll find in other messaging apps like WhatsApp or Signal. Two-step authentication adds an extra layer of protection to Telegram, ensuring that no one can access your account without your permission on any other system. Telegram > Settings > Privacy and Policy > Two-Step Verification can be used to allow this functionality.
Accessing saved messages
Important messages can be saved in the saved messages folder to be shared or forwarded to others more quickly. To do so, open a chat window, select a message, forward the message, and then click on saved message. The message has now been saved and can be forwarded or shared with others from the saved messages folder.
Creating own channel
Telegram channels allow you to reach millions of people with your message. To create a channel, select New Channel from the hamburger menu > Give your channel a name and a description > Select whether your channel is public or private (public channels will appear in the search results, while private channels will not) > Establish a permanent link > Select Contact and then click the arrow icon in the bottom left corner.
Editing sended messages
There are very few messaging apps, such as Telegram, that allow you to edit your sent messages and correct any grammar or spelling errors. To do so, open a chat and long press on a message. Then, from the top, tap on the pencil icon, re-edit the texts, correct the spelling, and then send it again. This can be done multiple times on a message.
Deleting sended messages
It happens all the time when we accidentally send a message to someone we don't want to send it to. Fortunately, Telegram, like WhatsApp, has a feature that allows you to delete sent messages from everyone. To do so, simply long-press on a message and tap the delete icon at the top, then select "Also delete for user" and tap delete. It will delete the message from both the sender and the receiver's end.
Making friend with near by users
Users who do not have friends on Telegram can use this trick to find people nearby who are in their location. To find people nearby, open Telegram and navigate to the contact section via the hamburger icon, then tap on Find people nearby. Allow the location permission, and it will show you people who live in your area. Don't worry, your chat will not appear until you make yourself visible. You can do this by selecting the Make Myself Visible option from the same section. Other users will still be unable to see your phone number.
Sending messages without notifying
Telegram is a feature-rich messenger, and one of its features allows you to send a message to someone without the recipient's phone ringing. This feature is useful if you don't want to bother your friends or family with a trivial message. To send a message without sound, open a chat window and type something, then long press the send button and select the second option Send without sound.
Making polls for users in group
It's an extremely useful Telegram feature that allows you to create a poll or quiz on a group for a survey. To do this in your group, open the group conversation area, tap the share icon, and then select the Poll option. You can ask a question and add multiple polls here, or you can enable Quiz mode and Multiple answer options for a quiz at the bottom.
Sharing media without decreasing quality
Unlike other messaging apps, Telegram allows you to send uncompressed photos without changing the extension or as a document. Simply select the media file and select'send without compression' from the three-dot menu. That's all there is to it. You can accomplish the same thing with videos.
Data saving by stopping auto download media
People with limited internet data should use this feature to disable automatic media downloads and save data and phone storage. Simply open Telegram on your phone, go to settings, data and storage, and toggle the following options off: When you use mobile data, When Wi-Fi is connected, and when roaming. After that, you'll have to manually download each media file.
Running in background
Telegram's keep-alive feature allows you to keep the service running even when it is in the background or when you clear the app from the recent menu. It will continue to be able to send message notifications. This feature is enabled by default, but it can be turned off manually. To enable it, navigate to Telegram settings > Notifications and sound > Toggle Keep-Alive Service and Enable Background Connection.
Disabling Automatically video plays
When you finish a chat, Telegram will automatically start playing videos and Gifs. You can, however, easily disable this option and disable auto media play. Simply go to Telegram data & storage settings > disable GIFs and Videos in the Auto-play media section.
Some Facts about Telegram
Telegram is a well-known cross-platform instant messaging and VoIP service. It is open-source and freeware in nature. You can use it as a mobile app on Android and iOS, as well as a computer app on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Furthermore, you can use it on the web with a web browser on any device, regardless of platform. In terms of what you get, the service provides a wide range of features and functionalities, including those not available on WhatsApp. And, in light of the recent backlash over WhatsApp's new privacy policies, Telegram appears to be a viable alternative to WhatsApp.
